Geekin Out: X-Men

Right now I am watching the original X-Men cartoon. I love this series. What is really interesting is how this show brings the disturbing behaviors of mankind when they see someone different. I am watching this cartoon and the people keeps referring those with gifts as "Mutants" and regular people as "Humans". Keep in mind, they are say "Mutant" as though it leaves a bad taste in their mouth.  And I am thinking, "This is crazy! Mutants are people with a mutated gene. They are the children that came from a human's groin. They aren't Demon Spawns!" Don't these people realize that mutated genes can cause illness in people? So, if I see someone with an  illness, are they considered non human because of that mutated gene? No, that is ridiculous. Some of these civilians need to take a chill pill.
And another thing that is mind-boggling is the extent these people will go to capture these mutants. Giant Robots busting all up and through the joint? Really? Maybe if they teamed up with the X-Men to kick some bad-guy butt, but that still is too much if you are smashing my brand new car and whatnot.

Fifa Womens World Cup USA vs France

USA wins 3 to 1! I am so happy! This was a very exciting game, I was sitting on the edge of my seat. Both teams did great; I think that France had a very tough defensive team. I was so worried in the begining of the second half because the France tied it up 1 to 1. They also made it hard for the US team to get to the other half of the field! What was even more exciting was that Morgan (USA) scored on her very first World Cup Tour! I am so proud of them, keep up the good work! USA! USA! USA!

New hobby and possible art style

So I think I may have found a new hobby and art style that I am comfortable with. Last year, all I did with photoshop elements was edit digital photography for the printer and draw. But today I decided to do something new with this program, I decided that I would do "photo makeovers" (or touch ups???). I think that it is so fun to be able to just totally re-invent yourself and show how you feel about/see yourself through the use of art. It's cool to discovering something new about yourself through the use of your talents.

My hubby says I look stalkerish in this picture ;3;
but that's alright cuz rainbows make everything better <3

Updates

Hey everyone! I know that it has been a while since I have posted anything. Right now I am getting ready to re-open my Etsy shop under the name of TeaTeasTreats :) I am super excited. My goal for the shop is to sale beautiful jewelry and art at an affordable price. Much of my jewelry will cost no more than $30 (not including shipping). I will be selling cameo earrings and necklaces as well as deco tins and crocheted cuties. The best part is that I am TRADE FRIENDLY, meaning if you see something you like but you don't want to pay cash for it, I may be willing to trade an item from my shop with something from your shop. I am still getting it together, but my goal is to have it open by June 20th.

Am I over reacting, Please tell me

Today I was looking through Hottopic.com to see if they had any good sales going on. What I happened to find was kinda disturbing. I found a pair of cute Vampire Mary Jane's, but why did they look so familiar? Could I have seen this design somewhere else? As I sat there, gawking at my screen, it hits me. These look very similar to Em and Sprouts Vampire shoes! I tried to reason with myself... Maybe I am over reacting...maybe this is a mistake. Then I am reminded about the jewelry I saw inside of the store a few months ago. Some of the pieces looked like those that could be found on Etsy.com.

Sadly, this is not the first time I have seen this happen. Last year, Acrylicana found out that her cupcake design was being mass produced and sold on t-shirts by a well known store. Honestly, I understand emulating a style and I understand that not all designs are original (as in someone loooong ago thought about it before someone else)...but to flat out take, mass produce, and sale someone else's work is bad juju! I mean if someone likes the idea, do it in a way that it is unique...or at least have permission to sale the FINAL creation (I.E. Some one gives you permission to sale a final product resulting from a crochet pattern, not the actual pattern itself).

Why does it seem that some of the bigger companies think that the copyrights laws does not apply to them? If a company saw me selling a bunch of designs that looked verrrrrry similar to their design, then they would push The Button! I won't get in deeper with this because it will start another conversation and then we would have to get into details...

I know that Merchandise Designers are looking for new original designs, but this is nuts. I know that there is a lot that goes on with copyrights, but I really do feel that this action has someway violated the law. Am I over reacting? How do you all feel about this topic?

Yummy Eyeshadows: Rock~A~Betty Beauty!

Hey everyone, I am back! And this time I have a little review. A few weeks ago, I started really getting  into makeup. I mean, I'd wear some every once in a while, but I was not really serious about it. Late one night, I was browsing youtube and admiring all of the colorful and creative looks that the gurus did with eyeshadow. I really love the pigmented look, but I wanted a nice quality eyeshadow without paying an arm and a leg for it.

Just then, I stumbled upon a video by Msdeeva305. Her video listed Rock~A~Betty Beauty as one of the best eyeshadows to buy at an affordable price, and I totally agree!

What I really like about about Rock~A~Betty Beauty's eyeshadows is that they were pigmented...without primer :) A lot of times one must use primer to make the color pop, but not this product. I also like that these eyeshadows could be blended for an everyday look. When  the colors are patted on, the eyeshadow is more intense than if they were blended into the lid. Another think that I liked about this product is that I did not have to use a whole lot of eyeshadow to make the colors show! If you have my skin tone, you know how hard it can be for colors to show up; but with this product, the colors show.

My favorite eyeshadows from this line were: Potty Mouth, Housewife, Roe, and Kink. I plan on posting some of my looks later on with these specified eyeshadows.

I bought some for my friend and I am planning on going back to purchase some for me.

*HEADS UP*
Because these are loose pigments, you should be careful when you open the jar, you do not want your product to spill :)

Wiggin Out

Alright, I know that I have not been around for a while and I do apologize. I have just been sooo busy. What, you busy, nooooo. Well, yes actually, and I have the photos to prove it! Now you may have noticed that my profile picture has change ^w^ Well, a while back, I was thinking about coloring my hair. I wanted a dramatic change without it being permanent. In my last post, I was wearing  colored bangs. I like it so much that I decided to invest in wigs!

I received a lot of questions on why I wanted a wig. I would get "You don't need a wig, your hair is so pretty" or "why would you want a wig, your hair is already long!" I want a wig the same reason other people wear wigs, versatility. Not to mention that about 10+ years of Sailor Moon intake soon had me yearning for bubble gum pink hair! I also bought the wig because of style. I love my hair length, but sometimes seeing myself with a short cut makes me feel all sassy :)

Coming soon in my next post: A Day on the Town (featuring my friend Arie, me, and this awesome wig)

Cupcake Hat

Well I am finally done with the cupcake hat that I was crocheting! This was a major project for me, I just started crocheting near the beginning of the year. I am quite pleased with how this baby came out. I got the pattern from Twinkie Chan's book. So here are some pictures :)

Colored bangs for just the occasion :D

Cherish looks super cute with it on <3

All I need to do now is add some beads for the sprinkles and I will be set

Crackle Nail Polish

Hey there! I am so excited about this new nail polish I bought. I don't paint my nails often, but it is fun when I do! I'm pretty sure many of you know about OPI's Shatter and China Glaze's Crackle nail polish. These polishes are selling like hotcakes and the stores can't keep them in stock because so many people want this polish! Forget about purchasing them from ebay (the prices are ridiculous!). I really wanted some of this magical nail polish, so I searched all over to find one that would be of good quality and not dent my wallet.

That's when I discovered "Mia's Secret Crackle Nail Polish". I looked to youtube and amazon to see how well this polish worked and there were a lot of great reviews and a small amount of bad ones (I think it was because not many people knew how much polish to apply).

I knew that I wanted a cute look, nothing to serious, and because this was my first time using this nail polish, I decided to go with a white polish with a small amount of glitter. I used Claire's Icing Brand Nail Polish for the white and glitter and I used Fingerpaints base.

I am very happy with the end results <3

Lolita Love (Tea Please) Speed Paint

New Art, Lolita and Mermaids

I have been trying some new coloring techniques and I am very excited to share them with you <3 I know that I have not been on keeping up with Fanart Fridays, my last few weeks were very...hectic. So I am very excited to post some cute stuff up here!
Later on I will be posting some youtube vids of my coloring. Mmmmkay so I'll just get started!

First up is:

Lolita Love (Tea Please)
I just rekindled my love for Lolita fashion not so long ago. When I was younger, middle school aged, I wanted to dress in Lolita. The bows, pearls, curly hair, and petticoats drew me in. I was not able to dress up because I didn't have the money and I don't think my parents would let me walk out the house if I wore something like this. Now that I will be going to MTAC, I will finally wear Lolita. Now about the illustration.

This is a technique that I used once before. Before that, I have never painted/colored over my sketches before (usually I have finished lineart). I love that there aren't any lines and just color. I want to spend more time using this technique.

Alright, time for the next illustration. I was going in another direction with this one, but when I started coloring the drawing, I was just taken over by a different concept. I am pleased to present to you all:

Mermaid
I was super excited when I saw the final results. This was the first drawing I did that did not have lineart :) Originally I wanted the character to be laying on a bed of candy (I was listening to Luxurious from Gwen's Love Angel Music Baby) Before I knew it, she was under the sea with pearls in her hair. I really wish I had recorded this drawing session ;~; I think that I should make a story behind this illustration, you know, change it into a narrative.

Coloring for both of these images were done in Photoshop Elements 7.0

Well, that's all I have for right now. Thinking about changing my blog layout again...maybe later this week.

Fanart Fridays

Here is my second entry for Fanart Fridays. I really like this project, it's really fun. Anyway this next illustration is from one of my most favorite games in the whole wide world, it is ranked #1 to me. I love it so much that I bought the soundtrack, made save points before major cinema sequences, and it is the only game that I have truley beaten. Give it up for Selphie Tilmitt!

Selphie is one of my favorite characters from Final Fantasy VIII. She is smart, funny, and a little crazy. She is awesome

Elena Color

Hey all! Don't think I forgot what today was FanArt Friday! Before I post my next Illustation up, I wanted to post this video I made. It is the coloring process of Elena. It is a bit looooong (nearly 10 min! and the audio is about 1 min shorter than the video) Hope that you all enjoy it.

Fanart Friday

Alright, this is my first fanart friday submission. I am so excited! And nervous... Anywho, you might be wondering "why is she doing this?" Well, I want to get into the habit of drawing what I want to draw. I did not have as much time to create or work on projects I wanted to work on because of school. But now that I have graduated, I have plenty of time. Plus this will help me build a nice collection.

So, here is my first entry... Drumroll please!

It's ELENA~Street Fighter III (Third Strike and New Generation). Elena is my favorite Street Fighter Character. She is so fun! After Elena it's a tie between Chun-li and Cammy. I hope to have the process or "speed paint" video posted up later. I may work on her somemore (forgot her earrings!), but I am pretty happy with how she came out.
Elena is not my character, she belongs to Capcom. I am not claiming her, just drawing her. And the background is from photoshop elements.

Plans and fun and stuff

So it has been a while since I have posted anything...but I have many ideas that I am putting into motion. First of all, I will attempt to post fanart every Friday. It will be called "Fanart Fridays" (how original). I will also post videos on youtube and here (speed painting videos). I have been sooo excited watching everyone elses videos that I just decided it was time that I put one out there. I just felt inspired to do something, even if it is a small something.
Yesterday I watched Acrylicana (Mary) in action. It was so much fun chatting with her and the other people who joined her live stream session. Mary is an awesome illustrator and jewelry/textile designer. She is featured in Digital Artist magazine, she gives readers tips and tutorials. She has some pretty big news she's about to tell us...can't wait.
Also, I am currently working on new items for my shop...I might just open a totally new one and use the old shop as a buying account. Hope to have more on that later.

So yes, expect something some time tomorrow and I hope you have a nice day.

Happy Martin Luther King Day

I just want to wish everyone a Happy Martin Luther King Day! I feel so blessed to live in the United States of America. It is important that we do not take our freedom for granted. There are people who want what we have. Thank you to all who have fought and who continue to fight for our freedom.
